Description

I leave what remains … Reliquia derives from the Latin verb relinquo which means “I leave”.

The Latin term reliquiae and in Greek λείψανα, is generally understood as “what remains”, referring to the human body or part of it.

With this word in the Christian context we speak of a part of the body or an object that belonged to Christ, to the Virgin Mary or to the mortal remains of those who are recognized as martyrs and saints and, more generally, to those objects that have been in contact with them.

The new fragrance by Filippo Sorcinelli, after the tribute to Mario Giacomelli with “io non ho mani che mi accarezzino il volto”, returns to Senigallia to describe a simply extraordinary place, rich in history and works of art but a great custody of important relics of the Passion of Christ: the church of the Cross, considered one of the jewels of Italian Baroque.

This oratory, dating back to 1608, was built on the will of the Confraternity of the Sacrament and  the Cross, still operating today of which Filippo is part, with specific positions as organist and artistic director.

Reliqvia speaks of the walls covered in gilded wood, finely decorated with carvings and reliefs, of the incensed steps towards the great high altar, like a golden embroidery, in which the statue of the dead Christ is kept, a wooden work from the seventeenth century and visible only once a year.

But he also wants to frame Federico Barocci’s altarpiece, the Carriage of Christ to the Sepulcher, one of the most beautiful works by the Urbino painter executed in 1582, and for which he also designed the frame.

Reliqvia is therefore a place to meet, to recall memory, to remember the time that passes and becomes solemn and authentic gold, a message of corruptibility and incorruptibility.

Reliqvia is the concrete trace, the last trace, to describe an existence above us, different and prodigious. It’s the closet that is always closed, the precious custody of sacred men that makes us understand that time is precious and that it risks being consumed without letting us leave a clear mark in life.

Reliqvia is the nail of Passion, layered and peaty incense from the solemn and sacred years.

There is no sacred, if men of the sacred do not recognize it as such, and exalt it in perfect rites.

Reliqvia is the perfect space of the sacred.

There is no sacred, if men of the sacred do not recognize it as such, and exalt it in perfect rites.

Reliqvia is the perfect space of the sacred.

Touching the relics, touching something that has been in contact with them is a grace and a guarantee: for this reason the Romans tore the veils that had covered the holy martyrs and in which the corpses of the popes were wrapped. This is why the popes were wrapped in those veils.

In the presence of the relics the fools are healed and the possessed and possessed are freed, the blind rediscover their sight, the cripple start walking again …
